Easter Sunday

We enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing Easter Sunday. Reflecting back to a year ago at this time where we found ourselves saying good-bye to grandpa, then 3 weeks later saying good-bye to my dad's step sister/grandpa's step daughter, myself being in and out of the hospital due to a kidney stone, kidney infection, and surgery...all happening at the same time...I really felt blessed with how peaceful our lives are this year.

So, today Lacy was thrilled to wear not one, but TWO 'pitty desses' (pretty dresses)! I am so excited she is loving girlie attire! Eddy and I got her a little girl's pearl necklace, bracelet, and purse for the special day and she LOVED them. We started off the day going to church and enjoyed a great message and beautiful, moving music. Then we came home and mom made us all a great dinner and Lacy had a wonderful time hunting for Easter eggs(indoors of course!) and all the fun stuff that comes in Easter baskets. Thankfully, Lacy was doing much better by today and we all enjoyed a wonderful Easter.

Five Years of Marriage!

Here we are again, attempting to celebrate our wedding anniversary, but it seems that March 22 is an active time in our lives! Well, and the country's as hotels all over are often booked up due to spring break. Our first anniversary we had the opportunity to host my cousin and her husband for a week(then boyfriend) from Alaska and we could not pass on that! We were living 8 miles from San Francisco and did everything the city had to offer...well at least it seemed that way! Then do I even need to mention a little thing called MARCH MADNESS?:) Last year on the day of our anniversary we were saying our final good-byes to my grandpa at his funeral. And this year as we have reached five years we were hoping to go on a little get-away, but Easter is SO early we had to schedule the celebration for a different weekend. However, we did get to go out to dinner Saturday after we came into town to celebrate Easter with my parents and they watched Lacy so that could happen. (THANK YOU!!!!) Next weekend we celebrate FIVE YEARS!

Celebrating our first with Shannon and Justin

The BEST addition to our family:)

Wishing you a Happy Easter

Mark 16:1-6
When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?"

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.

"Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen!

1 Peter 1:3
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead...

A wee wee doodle-e-doo....OUCH!

Yup, that's right. We decided to give potty training a test run. I know, I know, many of you are thinking, 'yeah, RIGHT. She's only 18 months!". BUT...Lacy has been telling me BEFORE a BM, 'poopy bottom', since she was 14 months. In addition, she has very sensative skin and is forever getting painful diaper rashes that do not seem to be connected to any new foods or new items of any sort. SO...I picked up a few books at the library(the ONLY books they had) and we started reading them. Lacy LOVED them. The book pictured above is her favorite and I believe it is due to the photographs of real children and their potties. She wanted to read them all-day and over and over. SO..I thought, she's into it and understands part of the process, so for her bottom we would give it a try!

Lacy studying the potty manual, determined to be successful
So, day one was a fun and tiring day, filled with lots of quality momma and Lacy time mixed with exciting potty progress. Lacy grasping the BM portion(telling momma she had to go, walking to the potty, and success!), but we only caught a 'wee' by chance. However, for day 2, I wanted to put pants on and see how she would do. At the start of the day, we were about the same. Not able to feel the urge to wee, THEN go sit on the potty and she either had an accident or a success by sitting on the potty catching it by chance.

Favorite pass time on the potty...reading:)
Then...SOMETHING clicked. It was amazing. Lacy started saying in a happy voice 'potty, potty, potty' and we would scoot over to the potty, dress down, and....SHE WOULD GO! All of it was making sense! I was not expecting that. I gave Lacy kool-aid for the first time and kept her drinking a lot fluids and we had many successful trips to the potty! Well, about two hours after the click began...we hit the worst set-back ever.

Lacy told me it was time to go, so we get her on her potty and then, she starts shaking, says "no, no, no potty' and SCREAMS horribly loud, bursting into tears. This continued all evening. I was not sure if she was some how getting stressed or scared of the potty process or if she was in real pain. Now, she would have NOTHING to do with the potty. The next morning the same thing was happening, so I called the doctor. Our wonderful Dr. Czarnecki had me collect a urine sample. THAT was fun. And we took the sample back, they ran the test on it right away...

Lacy has a VERY bad urinary track infection. Can you believe the timing?! How horrible, start sitting on a potty and then get slammed with very intense pain. Yeah, that's motivation to use the potty!

So, yesterday we started her medicine along with some tylenol(hopefully helping the pain) and Lacy still wants to use the potty, but I am backing off completely until she recovers!! Well, the poor little munchkin is in a lot of pain and I am praying that this passes quickly. I got one when I was 6 years old and still to this day, the pain haunts me! What a week!

Color me happy

Thought I would post some photos of Lacy playing her color game. It's just a matching game with construction paper, but she gets so excited over it! We practice saying the color names and then I give her a piece of paper and she walks around until she finds the matching color. Often she will purposely place the color down in the incorrect pile, just to get a smile out of momma. Silly girl:)

Attack of Cascade Wash

Attack of Cascade Wash from tofslie on Vimeo.

I did not have time to see how the light works on the camera before we left, so the video is very dark. I think her reaction once done was quite adorable. There is another video on our vimeo site of Lacy chatting and eating a banana:) You can see it from the home page if you click on 'all videos'

Little Forrest came to play

Forrest came over today while his mommy headed to the doctor. I was returning the favor as Lacy went over to Forrest's house a little while ago so I could FINALLY get my hair cut! Now that Forrest lives just around the corner us mommies wised up and decided to start a child-care swap. Little Forrest is I believe 6 weeks younger than Lacy and SUCH a great playmate. They actually will play side-by-side wonderfully. Forrest is the sweetest and smiley little thing and he has such great parents. Forrest and his mommy are part of our fabulous babygroup. So these two have been around each other since they were brand new! We played with the cars, made lots of block towers(and they were SO good about taking turns!), pet the kitty(yes, Dink actually allowed the petting!), worked on the farm, and then enjoyed lunch together.

I thought it would be nice to include an older photo of the two little ones together. Forrest's momma is the photographer of the group and she took the great and unforgettable babygroup photo!

They were sweetly 'talking' and then stopped as soon as the camera came out!

Lacy beckoning Forrest to come sit back down with her.

"wanna come play with me?"

How could you not just LOVE this little guy!

Forrest was so sweet to hand blocks to Lacy

What toddler doesn't love animals!

"Ooo, what do you have?"

Looking forward to next time Forrest!

Spring fever!

The weekend turned out to be quite nice so we took Lacy to a park she has not been too since she was an itty bitty and the only thing we did was the swings. This park makes me miss Alex, Erika, and Luke(the three kids I nannied the whole time in CA) as we loved going to a great park similar to this one located in San Anselmo. We called it the castle park. Lacy too, enjoys this park, but really prefers to have momma and daddy hold her hand through most of it! Such a cautious little one she is! We went both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday it was still quite chilly, but Sunday we were pleasantly surprised at the chance to ditch the coats! All-in-all , we had a great time.

So, in true fashion, I posted a ton of pics. I liked each one for a different reason . But it's so much better to post fewer as they make so much more of an impact. But, even with the lesser impact, I know at least the grandparents can never get too many pics:) Another side note for the photos, I am so surprised of their lack-luster appearance again. I guess for the web I do need to do the actual color-pop effect. On my computer they look very vibrant.

And thanks Shannon R. for the blogging advise. It did take forever, but one photo at a time seemed to bypass the glitch!
