I have for SO long wanted to go to Portland's Singing Christmas Tree. And this year, after clearing a few technical difficulties, I bought tickets for Lacy and I! Before I did, I showed Lacy the website with photos and one audio clip of the choir to test and see if she would be interested. She left me with tears in my eyes. She LOVED it and for the remainder of that morning, I had to repeat the choir's song and she even attempted to sing along with them! Obviously, I love music, but I have the most precious memories of me and MY mom getting to attend a musical function and absolutely LOVING it. I can't believe that I am able to share in that same special love and memories with my OWN daughter.
They do not recommend kids under 6 attending the event, as it is a formal one and 2 hours long. I knew that Lacy sat through the Nutcracker at age 2 and being that she is a year older, the show is constant music and lights, it should be no problem. In all honesty, this momma was more excited than her 3 year old, although she was pretty excited as well! It was a special day I will not forget.

If you know Lacy, then you know the only potential problem I was worried about was refraining from using the bathroom. So, I cut her off from liquids early, took her RIGHT before the show, but wouldn't you know, 15 minutes in, the potty dance began and out we went. I did not know if they allowed people to go back in and voiced my concern out loud once we left the auditorium, Lacy BURST into tears, desperate to get back in. Poor girl. I was able to quickly convince her all was ok, and thank goodness...it was! After that, (and again at intermission) we were in the clear and SO enjoyed the show. I could not believe at age 3, how much she loved the choral music. Even the slow songs. She was also in awe of the lighting effects( like snow flakes), SNOW falling on the stage, and an angel that flew across the stage. She did begin to get tired near the end and just snuggled up on my lap. Great show and great memory.
Thanks Mammie for taking such wonderful care of Ashley so Lacy and I could go!
